About the Role
As an Automotive Glass Shop Technician, you will play a vital role in preparing, fabricating, and handling automotive glass products for installation. You will also support our customers directly by answering phone calls, creating work orders, providing excellent customer service, and taking payments. This position requires strong teamwork to ensure smooth daily operations and outstanding service for every customer. You will work under the direction of the Owner/Vice-President collaborating with your team to achieve operational goals efficiently while upholding the highest safety and professionalism standards.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare automotive glass for installation according to work orders and quality standards
- Prepare windshields, back glass, and side glass for vehicle installations
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist customers professionally
- Build work orders accurately in the system for various services
- Provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone
- Take payments and process transactions efficiently and accurately
- Work collaboratively with technicians and office staff to ensure smooth operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
- Perform pre-use checks on vehicles
- Handle, store, and dispose of glass materials properly to minimize waste and hazards
- Assist with unloading, inspecting, storing, and organizing incoming automotive glass and supplies
- Communicate proactively with the Vice-President about inventory or equipment needs
- Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting installation technicians when needed
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in automotive glass preparation is an asset
- Experience in customer service, retail, or administrative roles is an asset
- Strong teamwork skills and willingness to support others to achieve shared goals
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to use cutting tools and handling equipment safely
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
- Ability to lift automotive glass and materials in compliance with safety standards
- Effective communication skills with a positive, team-focused mindset
- Professional appearance and conduct
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet production and customer service deadlines
- Comfortable using computer systems to build work orders and process payments
- Self-motivated, energetic, and results-oriented with a bias for action
